Accounting at Eastern Gateway Community College with plans to transfer to a four-year college in Spring 2024.
How did I get here?
I never expected to be the person that I am today. But, I’m excited for what comes next.
In one of my favorite poems, Robert Frost talks about taking the road “less traveled”, and that couldn’t be more true of the experiences that I’ve had that have gotten me from growing up in the woods of Missouri to being a flight attendant in Seattle. And, I can’t wait for my newest endeavor to become an Accountant.
Experience.
“Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted. And experience is often the most valuable thing you have to offer.” – Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture
EDUCATION
I started my formal education at East Central College in Union, MO. I then transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I studied Visual Critical Studies. I briefly studied Court Reporting at MacCormac College. And, finally, ended up at Eastern Gateway Community College studying Accounting.
INFLIGHT
I began my career as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines in January of 2018. Working in inflight has been one of the most rewarding careers I have ever had. It plays on my strengths as a leader, decision maker, and communicator. Our job is more than getting people from “A” to “B” — it’s making sure they are safe and taken care of.
MUSIC
I started playing piano when I was about 7 years old and took lessons all the way though my beginning college years. I studied voice and pipe organ at East Central and in Chicago as well. I found great success working as professional vocalist, pianist, and organist for the Episcopal Church, Presbyterian Church – PC(USA), Lutheran Church (ELCA), and The Catholic Church.
COMMUNICATION
Building on my visual art education, I worked in several communications positions, most notably for two Episcopal Churches near Chicago, IL. I was responsible for all parish communications including website building, social media management, weekly newsletters, annual reports, and weekly service bulletins.

Where I Found Success
My time at Eastern Gateway Community College has been one of the best experiences in my educational career. When I decided to go back to college to get my degree in Accounting as an adult, I wasn’t sure if I was ready. EGCC gave me the tools to succeed.
UNION PLUS PROGRAM
I was able to attend EGCC tuition-free through their Union Plus Free College Program.
PHI THETA KAPPA
I was invited to join PTK after my first semester at EGCC. Meeting other leaders and honor students through PTK has been invaluable.
PRESIDENT’S LIST
I was amazed and proud to find that I was on the President’s List every semester.
GPA
I have maintained a 4.0 GPA the entire time that I have attended EGCC. Something I didn’t think I was capable of.
